It’s encouraging to see all our FGA Genesis home cell group members at Beng’s house yesterday evening at the wake gathering of his late grandmother. His grandmother was 100 years old [and plus 5, Chinese custom] when she passed away on Tuesday (2nd December, 2008). His grandma once attended our Christmas celebration and she was a bright, sprightly and interesting lady. She loved to talk! And she shared with us about her school days at the St. Georges Girl’s School, Penang and that she loved to sing all those evergreen hymns. She did accept the Lord when she was in her late 90s. She is with the Lord now and she did have a long and blessed life. Praise God!!

Whenever, I attend a wake service, I am always reminded of Ecclesiastes 7:2 where it says “It is better to go to a house of mourning than to go to a house of feasting, for death is the destiny of every man; the living should take this to heart.”

How true – it is at times like this that many will think of their own "end." Our Saviour did weep at the grave of his friend in Bethany. It is certainly good to be there for our friends when they have lost a loved one. Our presence there will say it all. Beng, our heartfelt condolences to you and your family.
